Emergency Roof Repairs

We repair leaking and damaged pitched roofs, from a few slipped tiles to storm damage around ridges, valleys and chimneys. For water coming in, phone at any time; planned repairs can be arranged by phone, WhatsApp or email.

  • Slipped, cracked and missing concrete, clay and interlocking tiles
  • Slate repairs and replacement slates
  • Ridge, hip and dry ridge repairs
  • Lead flashing, soakers and valleys
  • Leaks traced to their source

Finding the Cause

  • Water often travels along felt, battens or timbers before it shows, so a stain on the ceiling is not always below the fault.
  • We check the covering first, then junctions: chimney flashing, soakers against walls, valleys and the ridge.
  • Where the underlay has torn or sagged near the eaves, water can run into the gutter line or behind the fascia.

How the Work Is Done

  • Slipped or broken tiles are lifted, and replacements are fixed and nailed or clipped to the battens where the roof allows.
  • Slates are replaced individually and secured with suitable fixings.
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles are rebedded in mortar or refixed with a dry ridge system.
  • Split or lifted leadwork is dressed back, repaired or renewed.
  • Damaged sections of felt or membrane, and rotten battens beneath, are replaced locally where the surrounding roof is sound.

Repair or Replace?

A repair makes sense when damage is local and the rest of the covering, battens and underlay are sound. If tiles are failing across the roof, the underlay has deteriorated widely, or repairs keep recurring in different places, we will explain why a replacement may be better value; the choice is yours.

What Happens Next

  1. In an emergency, phone 07360 183936 and explain what has happened.
  2. Where safe, a temporary repair can stop water coming in until a permanent repair is arranged.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the scope, materials, access and exclusions.
  4. Work is booked at an agreed time, weather permitting.

Cost & Time Factors

Cost depends mainly on access, the number of tiles or slates involved, whether matching materials are available, and whether timbers or underlay are damaged beneath.

Illustrative national budget examples (third-party guides, not HB Roofing prices):

  • Small Tile Repair: guide from £170, range £170–£500. Replacing up to five slipped or broken roof tiles where access is straightforward.
  • Chimney Flashing Repair: guide from £250, range £250–£1,000. Repairing the flashing where a chimney meets the roof.

Your actual cost is confirmed only in a written quote for your property.

Workmanship Cover & Materials

Workmanship cover is assessed for each job. We do not advertise one fixed guarantee period for all repairs or installations. Ask what cover, if any, applies to the proposed work; any agreed terms, duration and exclusions should be confirmed in writing. Manufacturer warranties are separate and depend on the selected product and its conditions.

Our £1,000,000 public liability insurance covers accidental damage or injury to others; it is not a warranty on the work.

Common Questions

Can One Slipped Tile Cause a Leak?

Yes. A gap in the covering lets rain reach the underlay, which is not designed to be the main barrier. It is worth repairing before it lets water through.

Is a Temporary Repair the Same as a Fix?

No. A temporary repair is intended to keep water out until a permanent repair can be done safely, often once the weather allows.

Can You Match My Existing Tiles?

Often, though older or discontinued tiles can be hard to source. We will tell you if a close match or reclaimed tiles are the realistic option.

Should I Go on the Roof to Check the Damage?

No. Look from the ground or a window and send photos instead. Do not climb onto the roof.
