Gutter Repairs

Gutters carry rainwater away from walls and foundations. When they leak, overflow or pull away, water ends up on brickwork and paths, and over time can cause damp. We repair, realign, clear and replace uPVC guttering and downpipes.

  • Leaking joints resealed or replaced
  • Sagging runs realigned and brackets refixed
  • Damaged sections and downpipes replaced
  • Blocked gutters and downpipes cleared
  • New uPVC guttering installed

Finding the Cause

  • Overflowing along a run usually points to a blockage, a run with too little fall, or a gutter too small for the roof area.
  • Dripping at one point usually means a failed joint seal, a cracked section or a loose union.
  • Water running behind the gutter can mean it has dropped away from the fascia or the roof underlay does not reach into it.

How the Work Is Done

  • Joints are cleaned and given new seals, or the union is replaced with a matching component.
  • Sagging runs are refixed on new brackets at a consistent fall towards the outlet.
  • Blockages are cleared from the gutter, outlets and downpipes, and the run is flushed to check flow.
  • Damaged or brittle sections are replaced; where components no longer match, a new run may be the sensible option.

Repair or Replace?

A repair suits a single leaking joint or sagging section on otherwise sound guttering. Replacement is worth considering when the plastic has become brittle, several joints are failing, matching parts are unavailable or the fascia behind needs work too.

What Happens Next

  1. Tell us about the problem by phone, WhatsApp or our quote form, with photos if you have them.
  2. We look at the roof or guttering and explain what we found.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the scope, materials, access and exclusions.
  4. Work is booked at an agreed time, weather permitting.

Cost & Time Factors

Length of guttering, number of joints, outlets and downpipes, whether matching components exist, and access — including whether the run is over a conservatory or at height.

Illustrative national budget examples (third-party guides, not HB Roofing prices):

  • Leaking uPVC Gutter Joint: guide from £60, range £60–£90. Repairing one leaking joint on uPVC guttering, where matching components are available and access is suitable.
  • Gutter Clearance: guide from £50, range £50–£120. Clearing the guttering on a small terraced house.
  • Replacement uPVC Guttering: Source average, not a starting price. Replacing uPVC guttering, priced by length.

Your actual cost is confirmed only in a written quote for your property.

Workmanship Cover & Materials

Workmanship cover is assessed for each job. We do not advertise one fixed guarantee period for all repairs or installations. Ask what cover, if any, applies to the proposed work; any agreed terms, duration and exclusions should be confirmed in writing. Manufacturer warranties are separate and depend on the selected product and its conditions.

Our £1,000,000 public liability insurance covers accidental damage or injury to others; it is not a warranty on the work.

Common Questions

Why Is My Gutter Overflowing When It Is Not Leaking?

Usually a blockage at the outlet or downpipe, or a run that has lost its fall. Clearance or realignment is often all that is needed.

Is Clearance Enough or Do I Need New Guttering?

If the gutter is sound and flows once cleared, clearance is enough. Cracked sections, failing joints and brittle plastic point to replacement.

Do You Replace Downpipes?

Yes. We repair, clear and replace downpipes as part of gutter work.

Can a Gutter Problem Affect My Fascias?

Yes. Water running behind a gutter can soak the fascia board. Mention it if you see staining, and we can look at both together.
